SHANGHAI, China - Oct. 29, 2015 - INVISTA was granted the Ringier Technology Innovation Award 2015 for its Novadyn™ transparent polyamides, recognizing their new-to-market polyamides with a unique combination of performance, cost effectiveness and recycled content.
“Designers and specifiers understand that use of traditional nylons in humid environments is limited by significant drops in strength and stiffness,” said Allen Reihman, director of new business development for INVISTA. “Blending with Novadyn™ polyamides expands opportunities for nylon 66 and nylon 6 by boosting conditioned flexural strength and stiffness by up to 43 percent, making part performance more predictable.” Novadyn™ polyamides also boost glass transition temperature, reduce crystallinity, enhance processability and improve surface appearance.
Unblended, Novadyn™ polyamides are used in transparent applications where polycarbonate struggles with chemical resistance and where more costly transparent polymers are over-engineered.
Novadyn™ polyamides can be used in molded parts, filaments, fibers, and films, and can be used in a variety of applications including automotive, electrical, industrial and consumer products.
The Ringier Technology Innovation Award for industrial manufacturing were inaugurated by RingierTrade Media in 2006. The award is now given each year to a select group of innovators in China's plastics industry. The purpose of the award is to encourage, acknowledge and reward those individuals and companies who have introduced and developed a new idea, a new methodology, a new product or a new technology for manufacturing production efficiency, cost effectiveness, user convenience, which might result in energy savings and more responsible clean manufacturing in the plastics industry.
“With a track record of 75 years of nylon innovations, INVISTA applies its polymer science and innovation capabilities to continuously innovate across the entire nylon value chain,” said Kyle Redinger, vice president of INVISTA Intermediates Asia Pacific. According to him, INVISTA’s 215,000-ton HMD plant and the 150,000-ton polymer plant are expected to start up in 2016.
